Oh, those shoes.

Sky blue leather moccasins intricately embroidered with red, navy, and white beaded accents. Buttery soft and looking like they were straight up from the nearest Navajo reservation. I’m not quite sure where my parents got them. If you were to ask 5-year-old me I’m pretty sure that I would have told you straight from Heaven. Those babies went with me everywhere. First day of kindergarten. Trick-or-treating. Play dates. EVERYWHERE. Now this was a time when neon, bike shorts, and Rainbow Brite were in full-swing, so while my top half looked like the ruptured contents of a unicorn’s stomach, my feet looked like they belonged to someone named Running Wolf—yes, it was just as horrible as you might imagine. But I rocked those shoes. I still remember how cool they made me feel. And when then they literally fell apart due to an obscene amount of use, I held a funeral for them wherein they were respectfully laid to rest in a shoe box at the back of my closet.

So yeah, wear what makes you feel good, even if it is sky blue leather moccasins intricately embroidered with red, navy, and white beaded accents. Nothing looks better than confidence.

This one’s for you little moccasins, may your little souls (I crack myself up) rest in peace.
